Alpha lipoic acid consists of two different forms with very different properties.
This form is the R form which is the biologically active natural nutrient in the body that accounts for for lipoic acid's strong antioxidant effect. The S form is produced from chemical manufacture and is not very biologically active.
Unlike most alpha lipoic acid supplements which are made of the R and S forms in a 50/50 ratio, the R Form is more potent and significantly reduces inflammation along with its other beneficial antioxidant effects.
This is a form of R-lipoic acid that is immediately available to the cells. It is only available in liquid capsules because it must be kept sealed from air.
